How to reset your Services password or FERMI domain (Windows login) password after it expires

Individuals who need to reset their Services account password or FERMI domain (Windows login) password after it expires


Scenario/Use case:

This article describes how to use the Fermilab Password Reset Tool to reset your Services account password or FERMI domain (Windows login) password.

 


Instructions:

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:

1. You must have one of the following to use the Password Reset tool:

2. You must enroll each account in the Password Reset Tool. Once enrolled, you do not need to repeat this step.

Once you have completed these steps, you can access the Password Reset Tool.

Using the Password Reset Tool:

1. If you attempt to log in to the password reset tool at https://passwordreset.fnal.gov/ and receive the following message, it means your password has expired.

 

2. Click the "Reset Password" link to reset your password.

3. Enter user name and select the domain name from the pull-down list of the account that has an expired password and click Continue.

NOTE:  If you have not registered your account with the Fermilab password reset tool, you will receive the message below and you will not be able to reset your password using the tool.  If this is the case, contact the Fermilab Service Desk to reset your password.

 

 

 

4. Select if you want to have an email sent to the alternate email you registered with the tool or if you want to answer a security question to reset the password.

5. Once your password reset is completed, you will see this message.

6. To ensure your new password is working, go back to the password reset tool at https://passwordreset.fnal.gov/ and log in using the new password. If you can log in, that means the password has been reset successfully.
